Centrifugal Dryer For Plastic Underwater Pelletizing

Often referred to as Plastic UWP Centrifugal Dryer Machine

An underwater pelletizing centrifugal dryer is a key component in polymer pelletizing lines. After pellets are cut in water, the dryer uses centrifugal force and airflow to separate and remove moisture quickly. This ensures low residual moisture, high pellet quality, and efficient water recirculation for continuous production.

Vertical Silo Mixer Machine With More Extras

The NICETY Centrifugal Dryer delivers efficient moisture removal. With its high-speed rotor and reverse airflow, it ensures pellets are dried quickly and uniformly. A versatile solution for modern pelletizing lines.

Centrifugal Dryer For Under Water Pelletizing

Main applications:

  •  All Virgin Polymers
  •  Compounds
  •  Masterbatches
  •  Recycling Applications
  • Micro-Granular Compounds
  • Recycling of recycled materials
  • Thermoplastic Elastomers

Pre-dewatering:

Gravitational separation through a slotted screen

Primary drying:

Separation by rotor blade and screen impact, aided by reverse airflow; residual pellet heat evaporates surface moisture.

Pellet conveyance:

Pellets are lifted and hurled by a spinning rotor with inclined lifting blades

How Centrifugal Dryer Works

  • Slurry Entry
Pellet-water slurry from the pelletizer enters the dryer either horizontally or vertically.

  • Primary Water Removal (1)
Gravity separates up to 95% of the process water.

  • Pellet Transport & Separation (2–3)
The spinning rotor with inclined blades drives pellets upward in a spiral.
Adhering water is expelled through the cylindrical screen.

  • Reverse Airflow & Negative Pressure (4–5)
Reverse airflow generates negative pressure at the pellet outlet.
This allows pellets to exit while retaining moisture inside the dryer.

  • Water Recirculation (6)
Collected water is returned to the process loop.

  • Result
The combination of centrifugal force, reverse airflow, and pellet temperature control ensures high-quality pellets with minimal residual moisture.

Common Questions

Most Popular Questions.

If you have any further questions or need a customized solution, feel free to contact us today!

What is the function of a centrifugal dryer in an underwater pelletizing line?

The dryer separates water from polymer pellets after cutting, using centrifugal force and airflow, ensuring pellets are dried efficiently with low residual moisture.

What types of polymers can be processed?

It is suitable for a wide range of thermoplastics, including PE, PP, PET, ABS, PA, TPE, and various masterbatches or recycled materials.

What is the typical residual moisture of pellets after drying?

Residual moisture can be as low as 0.05–0.2%, depending on polymer type, pellet size, and process parameters.

How is the process water handled?

Up to 95% of water is removed by gravity before entering the rotor, and separated water is collected and recirculated back into the process loop.

What are the main advantages of a centrifugal dryer compared to other drying methods?

It offers high efficiency, compact footprint, continuous operation, low energy consumption, and excellent pellet quality.

What maintenance does the centrifugal dryer require?

Routine inspection and cleaning of the rotor, screen, and seals are recommended. Bearings and wear parts should be replaced periodically to ensure stable performance.
